YUKON DISC ROHLOFF
VAN NICHOLAS INNOVATES WITH RENEWED YUKON DISC TOURING BIKE
Heerenveen, September 2022 - Yukon Disc plus Rohloff – a match made in heaven The Yukon Disc was developed to be a super-light touring bike that would also deliver the performance demanded by the fast, daily commuter, and now with the Yukon Disc Rohloff, a dedicated frame designed specifically to accommodate a 14 speed Rohloff system, Van Nicholas have added even greater reliability to this adaptable machine.
“If you intend to use your bike to get you from A to B on a daily basis, and also for your weekend trips, the last thing you want is to be spending hours in the workshop keeping your transmission in peak condition,” says Ralph Moorman, General Manager of Van Nicholas. “The beauty of the Rohloff system is that it delivers maintenance-free performance for thousands of kilometres – less time in the workshop means more time riding, which can only be a good thing!”
A simple twist-click controller can be configured with regular flat handlebars, or with the VNT (Van Nicholas Technologies) proprietary Rohloff-specific drop handlebars, and cable routing is internal until just before the bottom bracket. Cable routing for the brakes and even the hub dynamo, if that optional extra is specified, is similarly internal. This internal routing helps to streamline the frame for both aerodynamic and aesthetic reasons.
Versatility is a key factor in this bike’s appeal, with multiple mounting points for luggage and mudguards, and clearance for a range of tyre sizes, designed to allow each rider to set up the bike for their individual needs. Disc brakes, thru axles and a tapered headset, along with the sporty geometry, take care of the performance aspect – the Yukon Disc Rohloff is equally at home weaving in and out of fast-paced traffic, taking on a day race, or just meandering down back roads fully loaded with gear.
