Heerenveen, September 2023 - Van Nicholas welcomes a brand new model to their Adventure range. The Nootau is especially designed for adventurers seeking the ultimate challenge, such as the Great Divide, the Panamerica, the Silk Road or other bucket list rides. The titanium Nootau will help them get wherever they want to go and carry everything they need along the way.

“We knew, when we started designing the Nootau, that we absolutely couldn’t compromise on weight or comfort, because it’s intended for epic adventures and long days in the saddle,” says Ralph Moorman, General Manager of Van Nicholas. “It needed to be able to take as much luggage as possible and still be comfortable on a variety of trails, or for technical, off-road riding.”

To that end, they have married a low-slung, titanium frame, with a light, tapered carbon fork, to save weight, and engineered a long wheelbase, designed around 29-inch wheels, with accommodation for wide, 2.8” tyres, and relaxed geometry to deliver supreme comfort and control over any terrain.

Multiple mounting points on the frame and fork, along with the proprietary Van Nicholas Technologies (VNT) H-bar handlebar, take care of the luggage handling requirements. “There are so many options, it may be a case of what don’t you bring, rather than what you do!” says Ralph.

“We also engineered a new yoke with an eccentric bottom bracket, which helps accommodate the wider tyres, but also allows us to fit an internal, sealed Rohloff 14-speed hub.” With very little maintenance required over thousands of miles of riding, it is the ideal transmission for a bike designed for far-flung exploration. Disc brakes also ensure many miles of trouble-free stopping in all kinds of weather.
